Emily Krill
a few words about the Artist
Emily Krill is an artist known for her vibrant, large-scale antique paper collages. Her work combines the charm of vintage paper with bold color, playful patterns, and a strong sense of narrative. Whether abstract or representational, she creates joyful, eye-catching pieces that hum with energy.
Originally from Pittsburgh—where she now lives and works—Emily also spent over a decade in Brooklyn, a city that shaped her creative voice and love of mixing the old with the new. Her collage practice is rooted in a fascination with antique paper ephemera: ledgers, documents, player piano paper, blueprints, and children’s lessons are transformed into contemporary visual stories. Her extensive body of work spans the spectrum from abstract to floral to still life to portrait.
Emily’s goal is to create art that feels alive, layered, and emotionally resonant. At the heart of her practice is a simple philosophy: you live with art every day, so it should make you feel happy. Her work leans into joy, curiosity, and the unexpected—whether she’s assembling a “moving still life” or reimagining Mid-Century Modern abstraction.
Emily had a solo show of her work at the mossArch gallery in the Spring of 2024 and has been featured in print publications like the Bicoastal Review, New Jersey Monthly, and Contemporary Collage Magazine. She recently completed a large-scale antique paper collage for the flagship offices of the Pittsburgh Foundation and is planning a two-person show at Atithi Studios for Summer 2025.
She is currently developing an illustrated edition of Pride and Prejudice, inspired by the original Hugh Thomson illustrations and brought to life through her unique collage-inspired aesthetic.
